Norfolk offers a free resource to its citizens that teaches kids of various ages how to be safe in traffic; since education is part of Bike Norfolk’s Mission it only makes sense to take advantage of their bicycle safety class.Norfolk parents are invited to bring their kids to Safety City (next to the Zoo) for a 1 ½ to 2 hour bicycle safety class. The curriculum is tailored to 3rd & 4th graders but all ages are welcome; it’s up to you to decide if your child will benefit from this class (see class description below). Helmets are required, they have 15 bikes for kids to use but I encourage you to bring your kids bike.

Your team may face a detour and have to make a choice: collect as many different toy “Cars” from the Disney movie as possible that are hidden around the oceanfront or try to win a remote-controlled car race on the boardwalk! Detours, roadblocks, and speed limits abound at this one-of-a-kind event that’s fast and furious! Winning teams receive trophies. Everyone who plays gets a “Boardwalk 500” medal.
