AMC Theatres (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program.  In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie.

On Saturday, December 3rd the Suffolk Children's Chorus will perform on the porch at 5:30 pm. A new book on local history, "Chuckatuck: Crossroads in Time" will be featured that day. It was created by the Greater Chuckatuck Historical Foundation

Don't stay indoors when the temperatures drop this winter! Bring the entire family out to Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation’s Shiverfest. See the park transformed into a winter wonderland with holiday goodies and festive music. Please join us for this wonderful event where children have the opportunity to shop for gifts on their own (with help from our friendly King's Daughters elves)! Gifts are priced from $2-10 each and every penny goes directly to CHKD. Santa will be there for pictures - don't forget to bring your letter to drop in Santa's mailbox. We promise he'll deliver it to the North Pole! Model trains have become synonymous with the holiday season and this is a display worth bringing the entire family to visit, not to mention a welcome break for all from the holiday hustle and bustle.Of special interest to our smallest conductors is the “Thomas the Tank Engine” display which can be conducted by little engineers as they can pretend to be in their own version of Sodor Island.  Something of import to model train collectors, if there’s a minor repair needed for one of your cars, bring it down to the exhibit and one of Atlantic Coast S Gaugers take a look at it.
