Peter and the Starcatcher Starts TONIGHT! POPUP Giveaway!

October 6, 2015
Virginia Stage Company kicks off their 37th Season with Peter and the Starcatcher, a play with music by Rick Elice and based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. The show is a high-paced and ever-witty rambunctious tale of the birth of Peter Pan and his lost boys. Peter, a normal 12-year-old boy, sets out on an adventure aboard the Neverland and encounters the evil pirate Black Stache, a band of mermen and talking crustaceans, and much, much more. 12 actors play over 100 roles on a stage made of ropes, ladders, and the audience’s imagination. This truly revolutionary production is unlike anything seen at Virginia Stage Company in many years.

An eight part behind the scenes video series is being created in order to give Hampton Roads a deeper understanding of how our shows are created with artists here in Norfolk. Three actors will be featured in the video series as we follow them from their arrival at the airport, to the first read through, costume fittings, and all the other steps along the way. The series launched today and will culminate on opening night. Keep an eye on VAStage.com and their Facebook page for each new installment.? The first episode can be seen here: http://www.vastage.com/behindthescenes.

After 21 performances, the production will conclude on October 11. Tickets for each show start as low as $19, a radically different price than in seasons past. The best seats in the theatre are available for $55 with discounts for groups, students, and the military.
Words from the director, Patrick Mullins, Interim Artistic Director of Virginia Stage Company:

“I loved the show when I saw it on Broadway.  The play is clearly written for an adult audience, yet very family friendly in its execution. Sharing this great piece of literature with Hampton Roads was necessary because it is clever, original, moving, and so much fun. And it asks such great questions! This coming of age story uses the popular myth of Peter Pan to explore - What is identity?  Why do we feel alone?  What is it to love someone?  It is a show that lets you leave the theatre smiling, humming a little tune, and feeling better about your place on the planet.“
