  1. How do I register my child as a homeschooler? Here is a link to a form with easy and clear directions. Simply complete it and send to the superintendent of public schools in your district. As soon as you send it in, you are officially a homeschooler in the State if Virginia. Yes, it’s that easy and fast. And remember, you are informing your locality that you are homeschooling, not asking for permission. For further resource and confirmation, please visit the Home Educator’s Association of Virginia.
  1. Can I start homeschooling mid year? Yes, you absolutely can pull your child out of public school anytime you choose and begin homeschooling. You are the parent and have the power to choose how and where o educate your child.
  1. How do I choose a curriculum? Start Googling. Join one of the dozens of local and national Facebook groups dedicated to homeschooling and ask what those parents are using and why.
  1. What is a Homeschool enrichment center? A homeschool enrichment center is a place where your child can be in a small classroom, make friends and get academic instruction from degreed and/or experienced educators. Homeschool Unlimited K-3rd offers parents support and supplementation so families can enjoy the freedom of a homeschooling lifestyle and still be in a community. Homeschool Unlimited offers PreK-3rd academics in the morning (9:15-12:45) and optional enrichment classes, lunch and play in the afternoon. If you as a busy parent want help homeschooling your child, Homeschool Unlimited is the answer.
  1. Can students attend the afternoon enrichment classes without attending the morning academics at Homeschool Unlimited K-3rd? Yes! All students from the community can attend afternoon enrichment classes including Spanish, sewing, piano, art, ballet, violin, advance lab sciences for grades 4-8,  guitar, tumbling, ballet, Cardio Kids, Sax & flute, handwriting, private academic tutoring.
  1. My child is in kindergarten. Can I "piece meal” a curriculum together? Yes, absolutely you can. I suggest in addition to whatever phonics curriculum you choose, add in Singapore Math and Handwriting Without Tears. You can also purchase subjects separately from The Good and The Beautiful curriculum which is what Homeschool Unlimited K uses.
  1. What about testing? How can I make sure my child is progressing at a proper speed? By August 1 following the completion of the school year, state law requires that parents provide to the school district a letter of advancement or results from a nationally standardized test. Homeschool Unlimited K-3rd provides letters of advancement and directions on how to take a nationally standardized achievement test like the Iowa or California. Additionally,  Homeschool Unlimited’s curriculum has built in assessments and pacing recommendations. That is one of the things that makes this community resource so valuable. The curriculum is built to make sure each student hits their marks weekly. Because of the small classes and daily communication with your child’s teacher, parents will know immediately if a child is in need of extra help or advancing quickly.
  1. Is it easy to reintegrate back into public or private school after homeschooling? It has been this author’s experience that children who attend Homeschool Unlimited and Jr Kindergarten are further advanced academically when they join another school after being enrolled with us. If being too well educated is not an issue, then yes, reintegration is smooth. Last fall a family who attended Homeschool Unlimited sent their children to a local Catholic school known for their outstanding education. Both of their children were academically unchallenged in their new school and the father called to thank our staff for their outstanding job and asked if his children could return to our small classes and advanced curriculum. Academics, results and happy kids - a winning combination.
  1. I’m a working parent. Can I still homeschool? Yes. Homeschool Unlimited K-3rd has before and after school care. A Homeschool enrichment center is a supplement and support. It is not a replacement. Parents still are responsible for their child’s education and expected to be involved daily with checking over school work and homework. Homeschool Unlimited is not a private school but partners up with busy parents to accomplish the educational process.
  1. Can my child attend a free trial day at Homeschool Unlimited? Absolutely! Schedule a family tour and let’s set a date for your child to attend. See if this is what you have been looking for.
