Art Classes for Ages 2 - Teen, Local Artist is Expert
Clay, pastels, acrylics and water color are just some of the techniques young artists will learn in ART Classes with Meredith McKee at the Virginia Beach School of the Arts. Everyone can try a free class. Students as young as 2 begin to explore the use of color and the joy of creativity with a parent in Mom & Me Art. Mixed Media Class students have designed vinyl flowers from recycled materials, learned the properties of different paint and paper mediums and sculpted with clay. “I provide high quality materials and unique project ideas for students to get the most fulfilling experience out of my art classes, “ says McKee. A 2003 Art Ed graduate from Virginia Wesleyan, she is one of the few degreed, professional long-time artists in the area offering superior instruction to children in our community. “I love to see my students enjoy and explore the creative process without the pressures of time constraints and grades. Art is very therapeutic. Several students have studied art with me for over 10 years.”
Meredith offers 17 classes weekly during the school year as well as 11 summer art classes and 7 art camps. One of the most popular summer classes is her Cursive, Creative Writing and Fine Art. Students perfect beautiful penmanship, combine it with the art of story telling and create art to accompany their projects. It is a highly educational and creative class to keep young minds expanding and learning during the summer months.
