It’s pretty common knowledge that serious musical training can help with math. But did you know the greatest benefit of playing music is the results on your health?  Playing music eases stress and in turn lowers blood pressure, reduces pain, cortisol levels and helps create peace emotionally. Being able to self regulate by playing an instrument is a skill and benefit widely overlooked. The stresses our children encounter daily make the study of a musical instrument very important. 

Just 10 minutes of consistent practicing daily will yield progress. Here are 3 tips to help ensure a successful and enjoyable experience. 

1. Make sure your child likes their teacher. That chemistry is very important!

2. Make sure your child is give clear and accessible assignments and goals at every lesson. Since success is the best motivator, accomplishable goals are imperative. 

3. Make sure your child likes the music assigned. Although we all have to start learning foundational melodies and information, after a few months, your child should be able to play “fun” songs that are near and dear to them. 

We live in such a digital world and are constantly looking at screens. The physiology of playing music builds a better brain for creative problem solving and is a natural ability common to mankind.
