Keva Block Exhibit- Never heard of Keva Blocks®? Every piece is the same. They are about 1/4 inch thick, 3/4 inch wide and 4 1/2 inches long. You build structures by simply stacking the planks. No glue, no connectors.  They can be stacked upright which looks like it would be unstable as a house of cards, but even this type of structure is surprisingly stable.The simplicity is compelling. Wednesday, May 16 - Early Expeditions at Virginia Aquarium

Building upon the successful Toddler Tuesdays and Toddler Trek Thursdays, the Aquarium will be offering a Wednesday program for toddlers starting April 25. On Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m., the general public is invited to attend free programs. These programs are provided as a free service of the Chesapeake Public School System. Topics for these programs change every month and are educational in nature. They are designed to give the individual a general overview of astronomy. Tonight: View the wonders of the night sky while listening to stereo music in the planetarium star theater. Selections of classical and pop music will be played on the planetarium's powerful sound system while cosmic visuals dance before your eyes. For more than 25 years, Hope House has been the vision behind the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival. And now, the free twice-yearly event is a community tradition. Each year, on the third weekend in May and October, more than 25,000 people flock to Stockley Gardens in Norfolk’s historic Ghent neighborhood to browse through jewelry, pottery, paintings, and other works of art. Saturday, May 19 - All About Turtles at Hoffler Creek

Hoffler Creek Wildlife Foundation will celebrate World Turtle Day a few days early by hosting Turtle Time, a free turtle education program at Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve. "Turtle Man" Garland Butler will bring his turtles to Hoffler Creek's education pavilion for a show-and-tell program on Saturday, May 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to see box turtles up close and to ask questions about these fascinating reptiles. The program includes a short hike in search of turtles living at the preserve. After the hike, children will craft a take-home turtle and, at11:45, will gather at the headquarters building to listen to a reading of Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss.

Tuesday, May 22 - Toddler Tuesdays at the VA Aquarium

Bring your preschoolers on Tuesdays for this age-appropriate program that includes stories, songs, and an adventure in the Aquarium.  On the third Tuesday of the month, we feature a puppet show.  These 30-minute programs are held in the Marsh Pavilion

The Virginia Beach City Public Schools Planetarium is open for school field trips Monday through Friday, twelve months of the year. Please call to make reservations. We also have public shows most Tuesday evenings from 7:00PM-8:00PM September through July (no shows in August). No shows when school is closed. Doors open at 6:30PM. Admission to the planetarium is always free
